Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Hockey Cruises Past Amherst in Return to Conference Play

AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team cruised to a 4-2 conference victory at Amherst on Friday night.
 
The Polar Bears (7-2-1, 3-2-1 NESCAC) extended their undefeated streak against the Mammoths to three. Amherst sits at 7-4-0 (3-3-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored two first period goals to lead 2-0 going into the first intermission. Michael Dinges put the Polar Bears on the board after cleaning up a loose puck in front of the crease with Amherst's goalie flat on the ice.
  • Jack Studley sent Bowdoin into the locker room with momentum as he scored with 55 seconds remaining in the period. James Cerepak skated down the right side and centered the puck to Studley who deflected it in from the far post.
  • Richard Davis extended the lead to three at 1:38 in the second. Luke Wheeler slipped the puck to Davis in the high slot who shot through traffic for the tally.
  • Ben Kuzma put Amherst on the board midway through the second with a shot off the crossbar.
  • Bowdoin answered exactly a minute later. Jackson Holl capitalized on a scrum in front of the net to put the puck away at the left post.
  • Kuzma had a second goal for Amherst with 4:37 remaining in the game, but the Mammoths could not close the gap.

  • Amherst went 0-for-3 on the power play.
  • The teams perfectly split faceoffs, each going 35-of-70.
  • Alex Kozic made 46 saves to earn the win in net.
  • Connor Leslie made 24 stops for Amherst.
