BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team fell 1-0 in a hard-fought battle against the league-leading Amherst Mammoths.
The Mammoths (13-2-2, 7-2-2 NESCAC) scored midway through the final frame to earn the win. Bowdoin (8-9-2, 3-6-2 NESCAC) looks to rebound tomorrow.
Game Highlights
- The Mammoths had several scoring chances that were thwarted by point-blank saves from Sarah Peterson. Peterson kept the game knotted at 0-0 with a blocker save on Jayna Park's turnaround one-timer midway through the second.
- Amherst earned a power play opportunity four minutes into the final period. The visitors' best look came as Emily Hohmann fired a shot just wide of the left post.
- Amherst broke through at 8:46 in the third. Marie-Eve Marleau flicked a shot inside the near post from the low side of the right circle.
- Bowdoin nearly found an equalizer with under five minutes to play as Jane McCarter fired a shot and Elena DiMagno tried to work the rebound. Bowdoin pulled the goalie in the final minute and applied consistent pressure in the Amherst zone.
