Women's Hockey Drops Close 2-1 Decision to Middlebury

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team could not complete the comeback and fell 2-1 to Middlebury on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears sink below .500 with a 7-8-2 (3-5-2 NESCAC) mark. The Panthers climb to 8-2-3 (5-1-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Panthers broke through at 4:50 in the second period. Sabrina Kim banked the puck off the left boards in Middlebury territory and Avery McInnery took the play into the Bowdoin zone. McInnery dished right to Kate Lynn who wristed a shot inside the near post.
  • Middlebury closed out the period with a second goal. Julia Johnson collected the puck in the right circle and fired a shot off a quick shot through traffic.
  • Bowdoin converted on a power play at 13:49 in the third to pull within one. Gia Massari laid out behind the net to pass the puck to Abigail Ainley on the right post. Ainley tucked a shot inside the pipe. The goal was the second power play goal that Middlebury has surrendered all season.
  • The Panthers survived a six-on-four Bowdoin advantage through the final 1:37 of play.
