WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team improved to 17-1 and completed a season sweep of Colby in a 72-57 victory on Saturday afternoon. The 13
th-ranked Polar Bears (5-0 NESCAC) rolled to their 14
th consecutive win overall while the Mules fall to 9-8 (1-3 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Carly Davey scored 12 first-half points as the Polar Bears owned a 33-25 edge at halftime thanks to an 11-4 run over the final six minutes of the second quarter.
- Bowdoin slowly pulled away in the third quarter, using a 12-2 surge, capped by a Sydney Jones jumper, to extend their lead to as many as 15 points, 49-34.
- Bowdoin led by 14 entering the final frame of play and Colby never got the margin back to single digits in the fourth period as the Polar Bears cruised to the win.
By The Numbers
- Sydney Jones matched her career high with 28 points to lead four Bowdoin players in double digits. She also had five rebounds and went 10-10 from the free throw line.
- Carly Davey finished with 14 points while Callie Godfrey had 11 and Maria Belardi added 10.
- Bowdoin shot 38% for the game and overcame a 4-21 night from long distance thanks to a 20-26 performance from the free throw line as a team.
- The Polar Bears also held Colby to 37% from the field and forced 14 turnovers in the victory.
