Big Second Half Pushes Colby Past Bowdoin in Men's Basketball

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Colby College men's basketball team used a big second half to pull away from Bowdoin in an 86-73 win on Saturday afternoon. The Mules improve to 9-9 (1-4 NESCAC) while the Polar Bears stand at 6-13 (0-5 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Hot shooting saw the Polar Bears open up as many as a nine point lead in the first half as a pair of Ben Chilson three-pointers gave Bowdoin a 32-23 lead late in the opening period.
  • Colby used a late 11-4 rally, including a halfcourt bank shot from Max Poulton at the buzzer, to cut the lead to 36-34 at halftime.
  • The second half was all Colby, as the Mules shot 61% from the field, knocked down six three-pointers, and pushed their lead to as many as 17 points down the stretch on their way to the win.
By The Numbers
  • Kevin Reeves led four Polar Bears in double figures, scoring 16 points with ten rebounds on 7-12 shooting in the loss.
  • Ben Chilson scored 14 points in his second career start while Michael Simonds added 13 and Andrew Szwez returned to the lineup with 11 points and eight boards.
  • Bowdoin shot 43% for the contest and Colby finished at 48% as the Mules connected on 13 three-pointers compared to eight for the Polar Bears.
