Cold First Half Shooting Sinks Men's Basketball at Conn. College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team dropped a 74-59 decision to Connecticut College on Friday evening. The loss drops the Polar Bears to 6-14 (0-6 NESCAC) while the Camels improve to 14-5 (4-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears were sunk by a poor offensive first half, as Bowdoin could only muster 11 points in the opening 20 minutes.
  • Conn. College opened up a 33-11 lead at intermission and, despite a 48-point outburst in the second half, Bowdoin could get no closer than 13 points over the remainder of the contest.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin shot a scalding 62% from the field in the second half, including 8-14 from three-point range, but couldn't overcome a 3-26 effort in the opening half.
  • The Camels finished at 42% shooting for the contest and were aided by a 22-27 effort from the free throw line.
  • Ben Chilson scored 16 points to lead Bowdoin while Michael Simonds added 15 and Alex Halpern and Afamdi Achufusi scored nine apiece.
