Men's Hockey Returns Home and Posts 5-2 Win Over USM

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's hockey skated away with a 5-2 Tuesday night win over the University of Southern Maine following a three-goal third period.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 6-2-1 on the season as the Huskies drop to 5-7-1.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Huskies took a 1-0 lead at 12:26 as Zach Desmarais took a feed from Marcus Torgner and finished off a one-timer in the slot.
  • The Polar Bears tied the game with 2:04 remaining in the first. Richard Davis received a breakout pass from Jackson Holl and skated into the zone. Davis took advantage of the breakaway and buried a far-side wrister to the right post.
  • Bowdoin took its first lead of the game at 13:08 on the power play in the second period. Jack Studley put a shot on pads and Gabe Shipper buried the rebound from the left side.
  • USM responded three minutes later as Jeff Pollara was behind the net and found Desmarais in front of the net.
  • Luke Wheeler scored the game-winning goal with under four minutes to play in regulation to put Bowdoin ahead 3-2.
  • Patrick Callahan and Shipper added a pair of empty-net goals in the final two minutes.
