BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Middlebury women's ice hockey team extended their win streak over the Polar Bears with a 3-1 victory on Friday night.
The Polar Bears (7-7-2, 3-4-2 NESCAC) have not defeated the Panthers (7-2-3, 4-1-2 NESCAC) since January 2019.
Game Highlights
- The Panthers came out of the period with a 1-0 lead with a last-second goal in the first. Cat Appleyard came out of a scramble in front of the net and put a soft shot off the right post. Avery McInerny poked the rebound back in.
- Middlebury made it 2-0 at 7:05 in the third. McInerny received the puck behind the left post and passed up to Appleyard. Appleyard worked the near side but finally found net going to the right.
- Bowdoin cut the lead in half with a goal at 11:20 as Abigail Ainley broke into the zone and put the puck to the far left post.
- McInerny pushed the Panthers to three with a power play goal 34 seconds later. Cece Ziegler fired a shot from the left point and Appleyard deflected in front. McInerny finished the play on the far post.

- Middlebury was a perfect 1-for-1 on the power play.
- Bowdoin went 0-for-2 on the power play.
- Sophia Merageas made 31 stops for the win.
- Sally Solotaroff-Webber made 22 saves.
