Men's Basketball Falls in Double Overtime at Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team couldn't hold a late lead and suffered a tough 76-75 double-overtime loss at the hands of Maine-Presque Isle on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears fall to 6-12 while the Owls improve to 6-9.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin trailed 33-32 at halftime and fell behind by as many as ten points, 49-39, with 12:50 to go.
  • A 12-1 Polar Bear run, capped by a Natrel Allen layup with 9:12 remaining, regained the lead for Bowdoin in a quick three-minute spurt.
  • The Polar Bears led by as many as five points with under two minutes to play, but UMPI outscored Bowdoin 6-1 in the final 90 seconds, including a desperation buzzer-beating jumper that sent the game into overtime tied at 64.
  • The teams scored four points apiece in the first OT and Bowdoin owned a 75-73 lead in the second OT with under two minutes remaining, but couldn't hold it, as UMPI scored the final three points and Bowdoin missed their final four shots.

  • Natrel Allen scored a career-high 22 points with six rebounds and two blocks before fouling out.
  • Michael Simonds added 18 while Matteo Cervone scored 12 and Justas Bardauskas had ten, both also career bests.
  • Afamdi Achufusi led Bowdoin with 12 rebounds while Bardauskas had ten.
  • Bowdoin shot 34% compared to UMPI's 31% and knocked down nine three-pointers, but the Owls went 19-24 from the free throw line compared to 12-20 for the Polar Bears.
