BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team dispatched Wesleyan University, 77-44, in a NESCAC contest on Tuesday afternoon in Morrell Gymnasium. The 13
th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 16-1 (4-0 NESCAC) while the Cardinals fall to 9-5 (1-2 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears never trailed, scoring the first five points of the game and leading by as many as ten, 15-5, midway through the opening frame.
- Wesleyan responded, closing to within two points at the end of the quarter thanks to a 7-0 run, and trailed by a margin of 17-15.
- Bowdoin opened the second quarter on a 9-0 run, capped by a Maria Belardi three-pointer, that pushed the lead back to double digits, 26-15.
- The Polar Bears extended their lead to 15 points at the break, 39-24, thanks to a layup from Callie Godfrey in the final moments of the half.
- Bowdoin poured it on in the second half, pushing their lead to as many as 33 en route to the victory.

- Bowdoin shot 52% from the field in the contest and held Wesleyan to 27% while forcing 19 turnovers in the win.
- Sydney Jones scored 20 points, including 5-6 from three-point range, while Abbie Quinn added 19 points and eight boards in the victory.
- Carly Davey had 11 points and five assists while Maria Belardi scored six with five assists, three blocks, and a steal.
- Bowdoin owned a 41-37 edge in rebounding, scored 27 points off turnovers and dominated in the paint, scoring 44 points inside to seal the win.
