Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women's Hockey Falls 3-1 to Cardinals

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team suffered a 3-1 loss at Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears return home with a 7-6-2 (3-3-2 NESCAC) record. The Cardinals sit at 6-5-2 (2-3-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored first with 4:51 remaining in the first period. Brett Stoddard took a shot from the left side that deflected off a defender's stick and then flipped up and over the head of the goalie.
  • Wesleyan found an equalizer late in the second period. Isabelle Allieri capitalized on a shot that got tipped up and into the net.
  • Wesleyan took the lead on a power play goal midway through the third. Christina Tournas fired a shot from the high slot through traffic that found net.
  • The Cardinals capped the game with an empty netter in the final 30 seconds.
 
By the Numbers
  • Wesleyan went 1-for-4 on the power play and never committed a penalty.
  • Bowdoin and Wesleyan were nearly identical on the faceoff dot, with Wesleyan winning one more faceoff than Bowdoin.
  • Sarah Peterson stopped 32 shots for the Polar Bears.
  • Rei Halloran made 20 saves for the win.
