Women's Basketball Late Rally Nets Road Win at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team rallied from an eight-point deficit with six minutes to play to stun Williams, 54-51, in a NESCAC road win on Saturday. The 15th-ranked Polar Bears roll their win streak to 12 games and improve to 15-1 (3-0 NESCAC) while the Ephs drop to 8-9 (1-3 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • A low-scoring affair saw the Ephs enter halftime with a 27-21 lead after leading by as many as 14 points in the second quarter.
  • Bowdoin tied the game midway through the third quarter on consecutive three-pointers from Sydney Jones and Maria Belardi, 31-31.
  • Williams reclaimed the lead before the end of the quarter, and scored the first four points of the fourth period to extend their lead to 45-37 with 6:02 to go.
  • Bowdoin's comeback began with a pair of Abbie Quinn free throws, and layups by Carly Davey and Sydney Jones trimmed the lead to 45-44 just 90 seconds later.
  • A jumper by Jones with 4:10 to go gave Bowdoin the lead for good, as a three-pointer by Jones capped a long possession with under three minutes left to make it 49-45.
  • After a Williams bucket cut the lead to 49-45, Megan Tan nailed a huge three-pointer following another long offensive possession that included offensive boards by Jones and Jess Giorgio, to make it a five point game with 31 seconds left.
