Women's Hockey Scores in Overtime to Win 4-3 at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Anyi Sun scored in overtime to lift the Bowdoin women's ice hockey team to a 4-3 overtime win at Wesleyan on Friday evening.
 
The Polar Bears (6-5-2, 3-2-2 NESCAC) traded goals with the Cardinals (5-5-2, 1-3-1 NESCAC) throughout the game.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored at 12:47 as Luna Lu shot into traffic and Jane McCarter shoveled the puck through pads. Wesleyan answered four minutes later with a goal by Jenna Stevens from the right point.
  • The Polar Bears regained the lead just 1:59 into the second period. A two-on-goal developed and Lu took the shot herself coming down the left side. Three minutes later, Wesleyan took advantage of a scrum in front of the net to put a shot away as the puck squirted out to Brigitte Goeler-Slough.
  • Brett Stoddard gave Bowdoin its longest lead of the evening as she skated along the right boards and dumped a shot toward net from the top of the Wesleyan zone. Stoddard's look went five-hole and made it 3-2 at 5:21.
  • Five minutes into the third, Wesleyan again found an equalizer as Dylan Green wristed a shot to the right post.
  • Sun came up with the game-winner 2:15 into overtime. Sun handled in front of the net and beat Rei Halloran.

  • Sally Solotaroff-Webber made 39 saves for the win, including 21 in the second period.
  • Halloran made 17 stops.
  • Bowdoin won 33-of-61 faceoffs.
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-3 on the power play.
