Women's Hoops Holds Off Middlebury To Earn NESCAC Road Win

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team held off Middlebury in a 68-65 victory on Friday evening. The 15th-ranked Polar Bears extend their winning streak to 11 games, the longest winning streak for the program since the 2019-20 season, and stand at 14-1 (2-0 NESCAC) this season. Middlebury falls to 10-6 (2-1 NESCAC) with the loss.
 
Game Highlights
  • Both teams shot the ball well in the opening half as the teams traded the lead 16 times in the first twenty minutes.
  • Bowdoin used a late 5-0 run, capped by a last-second three-pointer from Callie Godfrey, to take a 35-31 lead at the break.
  • Bowdoin continued its good shooting in the third quarter and extended their lead to as many as 13 points following consecutive jumpers from Jai Duval and Sydney Jones late in the period.
  • Middlebury was able to cut the lead to 53-45 at the end of the third quarter and clawed to within three points on three occasions early in the fourth quarter.
  • The Panthers got as close as two points, 61-59, with 4:48 to go, but a pair of free throws by Abbie Quinn, and a jumper by Megan Tan helped push Bowdoin's cushion back to seven points with 30 seconds to go as the Polar Bears held off a late Middlebury flurry to take the victory.

  • Callie Godfrey (19 points) and Abbie Quinn (18 points) both notched career highs in the victory for Bowdoin, as Quinn scored ten in the second half to help push the Polar Bears over the finish line.
  • Megan Tan ended with 11 points while Carly Davey led Bowdoin in assists (8) and rebounds (7).
  • Bowdoin shot 51% for the game and held Middlebury to 41% from the field in the victory.
