Polar Bears Win In Overtime After Third Period Rally

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team came from behind to find an equalizer and scored in overtime to secure a 2-1 NESCAC win over Wesleyan on Friday night.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 9-3-1 (5-2-1 NESCAC) with its fourth straight conference win. The Cardinals drop to 3-8-1 (2-4-1 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Wesleyan took the lead with 5:35 remaining in the first period. Jack Kane fed the puck to Owen Sweet who passed right to DJ Dixon. Dixon carried down the right side and sent a pass back across to Sweet for a one-timer.
  • Bowdoin continuously pressured Wesleyan but could not solve Erik Voloshin until the final minutes of regulation.
  • Aidan Lyons passed the puck from the left point to Isaac Abbott on the right. Abbott teed up a shot and fired toward net. Bryce Bollman helped the puck through Voloshin's pads.
  • Bowdoin earned a power play opportunity in overtime and capitalized on the four-on-three. This time when Abbott rifled a shot from the point, his bid found net.

  • Wesleyan went 0-for-4 on the power play.
  • The Polar Bears were 1-for-4 on the power play.
  • Voloshin made 32 stops.
  • Alex Kozic made 16 saves for Bowdoin.
