GORHAM, Maine – The Bowdoin College volleyball team opened its 2023 campaign with a tidy 3-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday night. The Polar Bears move to 1-0 on the year while the Huskies fall to 0-4.
 
Game Highlights

• Bowdoin claimed the win by set scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-10.
• Tied at 5-5 in the first set, Bowdoin used an 8-2 surge, sparked by three straight kills from Lauren Lange, to take a commanding lead and never looked back.
• The Polar Bears never trailed in the second and third sets, grabbing early leads they would never relinquish on their way to the victory.

By The Numbers

• In her first collegiate match, Skye LaMendola led Bowdoin with 11 kills and four aces on the night.
• Ella Haugen dished out 25 assists and had nine digs while Maya White paced the Polar Bears with 16 digs in the win.
• Lily Janas (6 kills), Haley Campau (5), and Lauren Lange (5) all contributed to the Bowdoin offense.
