Women's Soccer Begins NESCAC Play with 0-0 Tie Against Bates

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's soccer team jumped right into conference play with a season-opening 0-0 draw against Bates on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears and Bobcats both begin the 2023 campaign with identical 0-0-1 records overall and in NESCAC.
 
Game Highlights
  • The most promising scoring opportunity of the first half came 7:28 into the game. Cadence Lee controlled the ball on the right side and fired a shot at the edge of the goal box. Bates keeper Ruby Reimann laid out and took the point-blank shot on directly.
  • Ella Olcese came onto the field in the 33rd minute and cranked a long-range shot directly off the left post just seconds later.
  • Bates put its first shot on net in the 42nd minute as Abby Alter challenged Charlotte Iannone at the left post for a quick head height save.
  • Bowdoin controlled play in the second half, but could not find the back of the net.

  • Bowdoin held an 8-5 edge in shots. Both teams put a pair of shots on net.
