WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's soccer toppled second-ranked Williams 2-0 in a game that saw the Ephs surrender their first goals of the season.
The Polar Bears remain unbeaten with a 5-0-2 (2-0-2 NESCAC) mark. The Ephs (5-1-1, 2-1-1 NESCAC) played over 675 minutes of shutout soccer.
Game Highlights
- The first half consisted of several scoring chances for both sides, but no successful conversions by either team.
- Bowdoin came out in the second half and netted a goal just three minutes into the frame. The Polar Bears broke through with a counter attack as Mateo Pacceli found Tyler Huck on the left side. Huck cut inside on his right foot and beat the keeper to the near post.
- Bowdoin remained in the lead thanks to a diving save by Alex Ainsworth in the 65th minute to keep Williams off the board.
- Huck tallied his second goal of the game with seven minutes remaining off a successful penalty kick conversion.
- The Ephs pressed in the final minute and forced Ainsworth to make one final save to earn the shutout.
