Men's Soccer Tops Thomas on Wednesday Night

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's soccer team exploded for seven goals in the first half as the Polar Bears cruised to an 11-0 win over Thomas College on Wednesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears (6-0-2) allowed only one shot on goal all game. The Terriers fall to 3-3-5 on the season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Mateo Pacelli nearly scored a pair of early goals but was denied by the Thomas goalie. Pacelli eventually set up Bowdoin's first goal with a flat pass from the right side to Tyler Huck on the opposite wing. Huck one-touched the ball into an open net in the 15th minute.
  • Julian Juantorena scored a pair of header goals in the 19th and 23rd minutes. The first came off an endline cross from Noah Alexander and the second off a corner kick by Ronaldo Cabral.
  • Just seconds after checking into the game, Matthew Braver sent a through ball to Kamar Burris-Khan who slotted in the ball to the right post and off the hands of a diving goalie.
  • Braver scored a goal of his own with a successful penalty kick conversion.
  • The Polar Bears had three more goal scorers in the final ten minutes with Drew Phillips going bar down, John Delionado, and Alden Mehta all adding tallies.
  • In the second half, Pacelli finally found a goal of his own. Burris-Khan added his second of the night and William Fowler capped the game with Bowdoin's 11th in the 75th minute.
 
By the Numbers
  • The Polar Bears combined for 24 shots on goal and allowed just one.
  • Juantorena and Burris-Khan each had a two-goal game.
  • Six players notched assists and nine different players scored goals.
  • Alex Ainsworth played the first half and did not face a shot. Grant Griesman made one save in the second half.
