BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Southern Maine women's soccer team got a 70
th minute goal from Maya Bermudez to defeat Bowdoin for the first time in school history on Tuesday evening at Pickard Field, 1-0. The Huskies remain unbeaten at 6-0-1 while Bowdoin suffers its first defeat and falls to 3-1-2 overall.

- The result came against the flow of play, as the Polar Bears dominated the opening half and finished the game with a 22-9 advantage in shots.
- Bowdoin had numerous great chances in the opening half, but couldn't convert as USM netminder Breanna Atwood made five first-half saves.
- After a torrential downpour at halftime and early in the second half, the Huskies settled and took advantage of a rush downfield midway through the period.
- Riley Reitchel played a cross to the foot of Bermudez, who tucked the game-winner inside the left post.
- Bowdoin had a late chance to tie the game, as a penalty kick was awarded with 23 seconds remaining, but the penalty kick attempt rang off the post, clinching the win for USM.
