Bommer Nets Two As Field Hockey Blanks Blue

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team picked up its third consecutive win in a 3-0 victory over visiting Wellesley on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears (4-1) extend their win streak over the Blue (4-3) to 20 consecutive games.
 
Game Highlights
  • Mackay Bommer put Bowdoin on the board just 44 seconds into the second quarter. Georgie Coetzer took the initial shot on a penalty corner and Kyra Deehr-Lewis made a save on the initial bid. Andrea DiTeodoro collected the rebound on the left side and drove a shot toward net that Bommer tipped in for the lead.
  • Bommer scored the team's second goal in the 36th minute. Maya Malenfant fired a shot from the right side of the circle and Bommer worked to beat a defender on the far post.
  • Sophia Rosati iced the game with a goal in the final seconds of the third quarter. Faith Jennings won the ball off a defender and worked back to the circle. Jennings crossed the ball from the left side and Rosati backhanded a deflection in.
 
By the Numbers
  • Deehr-Lewis was outstanding in net for the Blue and kept the visitors within striking distance. The senior made 18 stops.
  • Julia Arsenault played the complete game and never made a save.
  • Bowdoin did not allow a shot and took 26, including 21 on net.
  • The Polar Bears played only one defensive corner and had 12 offensive corners.
