Malenfant's Goal Leads Polar Bears to Conference Win Over Conn

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College field hockey team got a first half goal from Maya Malenfant and held off Connecticut College for a 1-0 win on Friday night at Ryan Field. The Polar Bears improve to 3-1 (1-1 NESCAC) with the win while the Camels drop to 1-3 (0-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears controlled the pace of play throughout the game, racking up a 21-6 shot advantage, including 11-4 in the opening 30 minutes.
  • Bowdoin converted the game's lone goal in the 22nd minute when Melissa Shunk took control of the ball at midfield and played it to the left wing for Faith Jennings. Jennings gained the circle and crossed in front to Maya Malenfant, who buried it inside the left post for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Camels nearly found the back of the net in the second period but a Shunk defensive game maintained the shutout.
