Big Second Half Propels Men's Lacrosse to Road Win at Trinity

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team prevailed in a high-scoring battle at Trinity on Saturday afternoon, 20-15. The Polar Bears improve to 8-3 (4-3 NESCAC) while the Bantams fall to 5-6 (2-4 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • A back-and-forth opening quarter saw the Polar Bears pull ahead with late goals from Matt Ward and Will Byrne to carry a 5-3 edge into the second period.
  • The Polar Bears opened the stanza on a 3-1 surge, as a Patrick Fitzgerald goal and two from Jason Lach extended the lead to 8-4.
  • Trinity closed the half on a 4-1 run and pulled ahead with a 4-1 spurt to open the third quarter, putting the Polar Bears in a 12-10 hole.
  • Bowdoin took over from there, scoring five straight to end the quarter- from five different scorers – and poured it on with five more goals in the fourth to seal the victory.

  • Patrick Fitzgerald followed up his mid-week, eight-goal performance, with a five goal, one-assist effort against the Bantams.

  • Ethan Barnard won 21 of 37 faceoffs for the Polar Bears, who got a team-high five ground balls from Zack Goorno.
