Women's Lacrosse Bounces Back With Big NESCAC Road Win at Bates

LEWISTON, Maine – The Bowdoin women's lacrosse team played its most complete game of the season, picking up a big NESCAC road win on Wednesday night at Bates, 18-8. The 19th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 4-6 (2-4 NESCAC) while the Bobcats fall to 4-7 (0-6 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin left little doubt, jumping all over the Bobcats from the opening moments of Wednesday's game.
  • The Polar Bears scored the first eight goals of the contest – three coming from Colleen McAloon – and holding Bates scoreless for the first 21:28 of the match.
  • Two late goals by Sophia Sudano, and another from Fiona Bundy before the buzzer, gave the Polar Bears a commanding 12-3 edge at the break.
  • After Bates came within seven goals, 13-6, Bowdoin answered with a 5-1 run to push the contest into running time in the fourth quarter on their way to the win.

  • Bowdoin has won 12 of its last 13 meetings with the Bobcats, including a dominant 50-20 cumulative margin of victory in the last three matches.
  • Eight different Polar Bears scored, highlighted by five goals and four assists from Sophia Sudano.
  • Colleen McAloon had three goals and an assist while Emelia Krakora also had a hat trick to go with a team-best seven draw controls. McAloon also had two caused turnovers.
  • Sophie Brett made six saves in nearly 50 minutes of play for Bowdoin while Sophia Rutman stopped four shots in the final ten minutes.
