BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team closed out the home season with a series split against Colby, winning the final game on Pickard Field by a 4-2 margin.
The Polar Bears (19-17, 9-7 NESCAC) suffered a 10-5 setback to Colby (20-12, 7-7 NESCAC) in the opener, but came back to close down Pickard Field with a win.
Game One Highlights
- Colby went ahead 2-0 in the first inning with a bases-loaded hit by pitch and a fielder's choice.
- Bowdoin took the lead in the third as Angelina Mayers tagged a two-run single to left and Katryna Dukehart added an RBI single to right.
- The Mules plated four runs in the fourth and another three in the fifth to open up a 9-3 lead.
- Mayers hit a long solo homer over the right center fence in the bottom of the fifth.
- Colby added a tenth run in the seventh. Mayers put another RBI single to left, but the Polar Bears could not rally.
- Mayers went 3-for-4 and Dukehart was 2-for-3.
- Abby Allen suffered the loss and fanned a pair of batters in three innings of work.
Game Two Highlights
- Colby jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single to right.
- Bowdoin produced a pair of runs in the fourth inning to go ahead. Mayers singled up the middle to plate JK Bradley and Kiera Dent drew a bases loaded walk.
- Dukehart added an insurance run in the fifth, doubling to left, and driving in Bradley. Sydney Lang followed up with an RBI single up the middle.
- Colby got one more run on the board in the final inning as Chloe Wilcox doubled to right and drove in a runner.
- Maddie Current went all seven innings and struck out five batters while allowing seven hits.
