BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team surrendered an eight-goal lead to fall to Tufts in its regular season finale on Wednesday night, 18-15, at Tufts University.
The Polar Bears finish their regular season with a 6-9 mark (3-7 NESCAC) and will head to top-seeded Middlebury for the NESCAC Quarterfinals on Saturday at noon.
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin was in complete command in the opening half, and seemed moments away from putting the game into running time with a 10-2 outburst to open the game.
- Fiona Bundy and Sophia Sudano each had two goals in the run, as the Polar Bears opened a 10-2 edge that was trimmed to 10-4 at halftime.
- Including the two goals shortly before halftime, Tufts rolled off a seven-goal run to start the third and use that 9-0 surge to take an 11-10 lead with 3:05 to go in the third quarter.
- The teams traded the lead into the fourth quarter, when Fiona Bundy's goal at 10:55 gave the Polar Bears a 13-12 edge.
- But Tufts closed the game on a 6-2 run, as Emma Joyce scored three big goals down the stretch to seal the win.
