Softball Drops A Pair to Husson On Sunday Afternoon

BANGOR, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at Husson on Sunday during the Polar Bears NESCAC bye weekend.
 
The Polar Bears are 18-16 on the season following a 4-1 setback and a 9-8 extra-innings loss to the Eagles (24-10).
 
Game One Highlights
  • Husson scored on RBI singles in the second, third, and fourth innings to open up a 3-0 lead.
  • A groundout with a pair of runners on in the sixth made it 4-0.
  • Angelina Mayers spoiled the shutout in the Polar Bears' final inning with a bases-loaded groundout.
  • JK Bradley, Liv Barrett, and Kyla Gary all had a hit.
  • Ava Biasotti suffered the loss with four innings of work and seven hits allowed.Maddie Current fanned a pair of batters in two innings of relief.
 
Game Two Highlights
  • The Eagles went ahead 2-0 with a pair of runs in the second inning.
  • Mayers notched an RBI with a bases-loaded fielder's choice to shortstop that plated Gary.
  • Lilly Armstrong tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth, singling to right.
  • Husson pushed the lead back to two with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Mayers scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to one.
  • The Eagles plated two more runs off an error in the outfield pushing their lead back to 6-3.
  • Bowdoin took its first lead of the game with a four-run sixth. Gary singled up the middle to start the rally. Armstrong added an RBI groundout. Mayers and Katryna Dukehart each tagged an RBI double.
  • Husson forced extra innings with an equalizer in the bottom of the inning.
  • Mayers looked to give Bowdoin the eighth-inning win with a sacrifice fly to left, but Husson came back with a two-run walk-off single.
  • Abby Allen started the game and pitched 3.1 innings with six hits allowed and three strikeouts. Anna Halliday completed the game with two strikeouts and another six hits allowed.
  • Armstrong, Bradley, Dukehart, Sydney Lang, and Gary all had a pair of hits. Mayers, Dukehart, and Lang all had extra-base hits.
