Women's Lacrosse Drops Midweek Decision to Colby

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team dropped a Wednesday night conference match to Colby on Ryan Field, 20-9. The Polar Bears fall to 4-8 (2-6 NESCAC) while the Mules move to 9-3 (5-2 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • Colby got off to a quick start, taking a 5-2 lead in the opening 12 minutes of the contest.
  • Bowdoin rebounded and stayed within striking distance thanks to a trio of Sophia Schaefer goals that trimmed the lead to 6-4 early in the second quarter.
  • The Mules responded with a 5-1 run to end the opening half and began the third quarter with a 6-1 surge to put the contest out of reach.
By The Numbers
  • Fiona Bundy led Bowdoin with four goals and five draw controls while Schaefer finished with a hat trick and five draws as well.
  • Emelia Krakora had a game-high seven draws while Peyton Mulhern led Bowdoin with four ground balls.
  • Colby was led by four goals from Elizabeth Hennessey and goaltender Sarah Hearns made three saves.
  • Bowdoin's Sophie Brett (two saves), Sophia Rutman (two saves) and Izzy Cisneros (one save) split time in net for the Polar Bears.
