Baseball Battles Back to Earn a Win Against Saint Joe's

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team mounted a seventh-inning rally to come from behind and earn a 6-5 win over visiting Saint Joseph's College on Wednesday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 12-6 on the season and drop the Monks to 9-14.
 
Game Highlights
  • The Monks took an early lead in the first, going ahead 1-0. Bowdoin responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning. CJ Brito-Trinidad provided an RBI single and Gabe Peckler knocked an RBI double to right center.
  • Errors in the third proved costly as Saint Joe's went ahead 4-2 with three unearned runs.
  • The Polar Bears tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth as Brito-Trinidad and Peckler each hit an RBI for the second time in the game.
  • Saint Joseph's eked ahead in the sixth with an RBI double to left center.
  • Peckler provided the game-tying run as he drove in Brito-Trinidad with a deep double down the left field line. Nick Merrill drove in the game-winning run off an RBI single to left.
 
By the Numbers
  • Brito-Trinidad went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Peckler was 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run. Chris Dirks went 2-for-2.
  • Bowdoin put five pitchers on the mound. Jacob Warren started the game and pitched three innings with three hits and one earned run. Warren, Alex Saavedra, and Jackson Melendy all pitched multiple innings and recorded one strikeout a piece.
  • Connor Cassady and Jack Olcott combined to pitch the final two innings. Each pitcher allowed one hit.
  • Bowdoin outhit the Monks 12-8.
