Polar Bears Play Through Snow to Split Series With Williams

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin softball team suffered an 8-5 setback to Williams on Friday afternoon in the series opener.

The Polar Bears 9-10 (2-3 NESCAC) currently hold a 7-2 lead over the Ephs (5-8, 1-0 NESCAC) in the sixth inning of game two. The second game was officially "halted."

Game One Highlights
  • The Ephs jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning. With a pair of runners on, Sydney Fleming homered to center field. With the bases loaded, Taylor Wise chipped a ball to second where the Polar Bears made a play for the force out. However, Bri Kang was able to score from third.
  • The Polar Bears surrendered three more runs off an error in the third.
  • Angelina Mayers tagged an RBI single in the third to put Bowdoin on the board. The Williams left fielder dropped a fly ball off the bat of Chloe Garcia and two runs came home in the fifth to make it 7-3.
  • Fleming hit another home run, this time to left, in the sixth.
  • Bowdoin chipped away with two runs in the seventh, but could not overcome the deficit. Garcia tagged an RBI single and Sydney Lang walked in a run.

  • Garcia added another RBI single in the fourth and Armstrong tagged an RBI double down the right field line to close out the game in the fifth.
  • The game was called due to darkness at the conclusion of the fifth inning.
