Men's Lacrosse Holds Off Babson Rally To Earn Non-Conference Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team held off a furious second half rally to defeat Babson in a non-conference win at Whittier Field on Tuesday night, 13-12. The 15th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 6-2 on the season while the Beavers fall to 5-2.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin came out firing, scoring six goals in a torrid first quarter that saw Jason Lach put four in the back of the net.
  • Babson steadied their footing and, after trailing by as many as six goals, 9-3, were able to cut the Bowdoin lead to 9-4 at the break.
  • The Beavers scored four goals in the first 11 minutes of the third quarter, and closed to within a single goal, 9-8, on a Ryan Kenney score with 4:21 left in the frame.
  • Bowdoin survived the run, and go a key goal from Sam Raye-Steiner, followed by scores from Liam Tasker and Oliver Bernstein, to regain a four-goal edge, 12-8, with under ten to go.
  • Babson wouldn't go away, however, and used a 4-1 run to cut the Polar Bear lead back to a single goal, 13-12, with 52 seconds remaining. The Beavers had one final possession to force overtime, but Pat White caused a turnover for Bowdoin in the closing moments to secure the win for the Polar Bears.

  • Jason Lach scored five goals on six shots for Bowdoin while Will Byrne added three goals and an assist.
  • Patrick Fitzgerald had a goal and two assists for the Polar Bears.
  • Ethan Barnard won 22 of 28 faceoffs for the Polar Bears and had 12 ground balls.
  • Robert Hobbs made ten saves in the victory for Bowdoin while Nate Ryan had a pair of cause turnovers.
  • Will Spangenberg paced Babson with three goals and two assists.
