Softball Splits Sunday Twinbill With Amherst

AMHERST, Mass. – The Bowdoin College softball team closed out its spring break schedule with a doubleheader split at Amherst on Sunday. The Polar Bears stand at 9-9 this season after the games.

Game One Highlights
  • Trailing 1-0 after one inning of play, Bowdoin exploded for five runs in the second inning of a 9-4 win over the Mammoths in Sunday's opener.
  • After an RBI single by Lilly Armstrong and sac fly from JK Bradley, Angelina Mayers continued her torrid play at the plate, launching a three-run homer to give Bowdoin the early edge.
  • With Amherst closing the gap to 6-4 heading into the seventh, Bowdoin put it out of reach with three runs, that included a sac fly by Shea Sullivan and bases loaded walk by Armstrong.
  • Ava Biasotti kept the Mammoths at bay, tossing a complete game, permitting four earned runs and striking out seven.
  • Armstrong had three hits, including a pair of doubles, while Katryna Dukehart also had two hits in the win.
Game Two Highlights
