Men's Lacrosse Storms Endicott in Second Half of Non-Conference Win

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team rallied from a halftime deficit to dominate the second half in an 18-9 win over Endicott on Wednesday night at Whittier Field. The Polar Bears improve to 4-2 this season while the Gulls fall to 3-4.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin committed nine turnovers in the first half and Endicott goaltender Tim Luciano stood tall, stopping nine shots in the first 30 minutes as the Gulls built a 6-2 lead midway through the second quarter.
  • The Polar Bears found their footing late in the opening half, scoring three times in the final 4:20 to close the gap to 6-5 at the break.
  • After Endicott pushed the lead to 7-5 in the opening minute of the third quarter, Bowdoin took off, outscoring the gulls 13-2 for the remainder of the game.
  • Benny Rakower started a 5-0 run for Bowdoin that ended with a goal from Sam Raye-Steiner with under six minutes to go in the third period.
  • Jason Lach took over from there, scoring three times in an eight-minute span as the Polar Bears continued to pull away.
  • In all, Bowdoin outscored Endicott 13-3 in the second half en route to the victory.
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin's Ethan Barnard enjoyed another dominating performance on the faceoff dot, winning 21 of 25 draws in the victory.
  • Jason Lach finished as the Polar Bears' leading scorer, notching four goals and two assists,  while Patrick Fitzgerald added three goals and two assists.
  • Will Byrne had seven assists, finishing one assist shy of the program's single-game record.
  • Barnard had 11 ground balls and Zack Goorno added five while Robert Hobbs made 15 saves.
  • Bowdoin has now won five straight over the Gulls, including a cumulative score of 37-14 over the last two seasons.
