Softball Hits Four-Game Skid in Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 CLERMONT, Fla. – The Bowdoin softball team hit a four-game losing streak, during back-to-back days of doubleheaders.
 
The Polar Bears lost 10-1 to Wisconsin – River Falls and suffered a walk-off 8-7 loss to Carroll on the same day. The following day, Bowdoin dropped a 9-8 decision to Loras College and 9-1 loss to Hope. Bowdoin slides to 5-5 on the season.
 
Carroll University Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin put up two runs in the top of the first off an RBI double by Angelina Mayers and RBI single from Katryna Dukehart.
  • Carroll answered with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Bowdoin again plated a pair of runs in the second, this time off RBI singles from Lilly Armstrong and JK Bradley.
  • Again, Carroll answered with a single run in the bottom half. The Pioneers pulled within one in the third off an RBI double.
  • The Polar Bears pushed their lead again as Armstrong drove in two more runs with a single to right.
  • Carroll continued to stay within striking distance with a run in the fifth that made it 6-4.
  • Dukehart drove in Bowdoin's seventh and final run in the sixth.
  • Various fielding mistakes by the Polar Bears in the bottom of the seventh allowed Carroll to come back, tie the game, and win with a walk-off single.
  • Anna Halliday started on the rubber and pitched four innings with eight hits and three earned runs. Maddie Current pitched the final 2.2 innings and allowed eight hits and two earned runs.
  • Armstrong went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases. Bradley and Sydney Lang were both 3-for-4. Lang tagged a double and recorded a stolen base.
 
Loras College Game Highlights
  • Loras jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings.
  • Bowdoin chipped away with three runs in the fourth. Mayers drove in a run and Shea Sullivan plated two with a single to right.
  • Loras pushed the game to 7-3 in the bottom half of the inning.
  • The Polar Bears rallied in the sixth and took the lead. Sullivan recorded an RBI single, while Lang had a two-run double and Armstrong plated Lang with a double.
  • The Duhawks took the final lead of the game in the bottom of the sixth off a two-run homer to left.
  • Armstrong went 3-for-4 at the plate, hitting a homerun shy of the cycle, with two RBI. Sullivan was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
  • Current pitched a complete game with eight hits, three strikeouts, and four earned runs.
 
Hope College Game Highlights
  • A five-run third inning put Hope out front. The Dutch plated two more in the top of the fourth before Mayers hit a solo homer to put Bowdoin on the board.
  • Hope scored one more in each of the fifth and sixth innings to end the game there.
  • Bowdoin put four pitchers in the circle who combined for 12 walks and five earned runs, allowing 10 hits.
  • Mayers and Gary were both 2-for-3.
