BRUNSWICK, Maine –
Sally Solotaroff-Webber posted a 32 save shutout in the Bowdoin women's hockey 0-0 overtime tie against Hamilton on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears (7-12-2, 2-11-1 NESCAC) and Continentals (15-3-2, 9-2-1 NESCAC) each recorded their first conference tie of the season.
Game Highlights
- After a scoreless first period, opportunities increased in the second frame. Midway through, Gia Massari backhanded a close-range shot that was turned away by Evie Sheridan.
- A minute later, Mya Berretta made a rush down the center of the ice and made a beautiful move to the backhand and slipped a pass right to Allie Curry for a one-timer that Solotaroff-Webber stopped.
- The Continentals earned the first power play of the game in the final four minutes. Abby Kuhns fired a shot from the right point that Claire McGennis deflected in front, but again Solotaroff-Webber made the save.
- Hamilton won a right dot faceoff at 12:45 in the third and Nancy Low took the immediate shot. Solotaroff-Webber blockered away the puck.
- Ali Dougal received an open feed directly in front of the net, but couldn't connect with 2:30 remaining in regulation.
- The Polar Bears controlled the opening 1:30 of overtime. Bowdoin cycled the puck and managed several shots on pads to begin the frame.
- Loh backhanded a shot in front of the crease that slid just wide of the net to close out the major scoring chances in overtime.
By the Numbers
- Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play.
- Solotaroff-Webber stopped all 32 shots she faced, including 12 in the second period and ten in the third.
- Evie Sheridan made 17 saves and turned away all four overtime shots faced.
