Continentals Cruise Past Women's Hockey on Friday Night

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Hamilton women's hockey team pinned a 4-1 setback on Bowdoin on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears slide to 7-12-1 (2-11-0 NESCAC). The nationally-ranked Continentals are 15-3-1 (9-2-0 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • The Continentals broke through at 9:01 to go ahead 1-0. Hyla Mosher flipped the puck up the boards from in front of the Bowdoin bench, into the zone. Mya Berretta picked up the puck and skated towards goal, deking a defender and pulling around Sally Solotaroff-Webber to put the shot away.
  • Only 38 seconds into a second-period power play, Hamilton made it 2-0. Abby Kuhns fired from the high slot and Nancy Loh deflected in front. The puck went off Loh's stick and kicked right to Claire McGennis who redirected it in.
  • Jane McCarter broke up a breakaway opportunity midway through the period. Nina Shaikh streaked into the Bowdoin zone and got within feet of goal. Before Shaikh could make a move, McCarter stuck the blade of her stick in and prevented the shot.
  • Under four minutes into the third, Bobbi Roca wristed in a near side feed from Loh coming out of the right corner.
  • Bowdoin spoiled the Hamilton shutout with a goal at 11:11. Allie Britt took the puck off the boards in front of the Polar Bear bench and fired a shot skating into the zone. Britt's initial shot hit the far post and rebounded back to her. Britt buried her own rebound.
  • Hamilton iced the game with an empty-netter in the final minute.
