Polar Bears Close Out Regular Season With 2-0 Win at Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Bowdoin men's hockey team closed out the regular season with a 2-0 win at Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears head into the post-season with a 12-9-3 mark overall and 6-9-3 record in NESCAC action. The Camels saw their season come to an end at 5-19-0 (2-16-0 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears put 19 shots on net through two periods of play, but neither team could find a goal heading into the third.
  • After 16 shots on net to begin the third period, Bowdoin's Gabe Shipper converted with 6:04 remaining in the game to put the Polar Bears on the board. Ethan Kimball set up the play by carrying the puck the length of the left boards and deep into Camel territory. Kimball passed across to the far side post where Shipper waited for a one-timer.
  • Jimmy Duffy iced the game with an empty-netter with one second remaining. Duffy carried from the Bowdoin zone all the way to the opposite end and waited until he was at the crease to put in the empty-net tally.
 
By the Numbers
  • Both teams went 0-for-3 on the power play.
  • Alex Kozic made 25 saves for the shutout victory.
  • Kellen Beauton stopped 38 shots, including 19 in the third period.

  • Bowdoin waits for the official seeding announcement from the NESCAC following the conclusion of all league games. The quarterfinals will be played on February 25 with the Polar Bears on the road.
