Trinity Pulls Away in Third Period to Down Men's Hockey

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Trinity College men's ice hockey team scored three goals in the third period to pull away for a 4-0 win at Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon at Watson Arena. The Bantams improve to 16-5-1 (13-2-1 NESCAC) with the win while Bowdoin falls to 11-8-3 (5-8-3 NESCAC).

Game Highlights
  • The Bantams struck first at 8:53 in the first. Andrew Troy carried down the right side of the ice and banked a pass off the back boards to Devan Tongue. Tongue received the puck at the corner of the goal line and boards, pushing a pass forward to Richard Boysen. Boysen fired a low angle shot that found a sliver of net on the far side.
  • The best chance for either side in the scoreless second period came off the stick of Bobby Pearl, who ripped a low-angle shot from left side off the crossbar with under a minute remaining.
  • Trinity scored twice in the opening five minutes of the third period, getting goals from Andrew Troy and Riley Prattson to extend their lead to 3-0.
  • After a string of Trinity penalties, the Polar Bears pulled goaltender Alex Kozic to gain an extra attacker at the 10:03 mark of the third. Bowdoin had nearly four minutes of advantage but couldn't dent the scoreboard and Prattson buried a 3/4-ice empty-netter with 7:22 to go to seal the win
