Women's Hoops Closes Out First Semester With Double-Digit Win Over WPI

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's basketball team closed out its first semester with a 77-53 win over WPI on Saturday at Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears enter winter break with an 8-1 record while the Engineers fall to 5-4. 

Game Highlights
  • The Polar Bears never trailed, jumping to 9-2 lead and getting dominant first half play from their backcourt. 
  • Carly Davey and Meg Tan combined to score 27 of Bowdoin's first 33 points as the Polar Bears pushed the lead into double digits by the end of the first quarter, 21-10. 
  • Bowdoin owned a 41-23 lead at the break and led by as many as 29 points in the second half en route to the victory. 
By The Numbers
  • Bowdoin finished at 52% shooting for the contest, including a 10-22 effort (45%) from three-point range
  • Megan Tan led all scorers with 19 points to go with four assists while Carly Davey ended with 18 points and four assists with two steals.
  • Sydney Jones (10 points, seven rebounds, three assists) and Callie Godfrey (10 pooints, five rebounds, four steals) also saw double digits.
  • Bowdoin held WPI to 35% shooting for the game and forced 16 turnovers, scoring 18 points off turnovers in the win.

  • Bowdoin is off until December 29-30 when they will travel to the Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn., where they will play Kenyon on the 29th and Chicago on the 30th.
