MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team suffered a 4-1 conference setback at Tufts on Friday night.
The Polar Bears (3-2-1, 1-2-1 NESCAC) gave up two first period goals and came no closer than 3-1 as the Jumbos (4-4-1, 3-2-0 NESCAC) came up with the win.
Game Highlights
- Tufts scored first at 8:31 with a fast break into the Bowdoin zone and an odd-man rush. Cole Dubicki carried down the right side and dished a centering pass to John Mulvihill for a quick finish coming down the slot.
- The Jumbos doubled their lead with three minutes to play in the period. Again, Tufts put the puck past Alex Kozic with a feed to between the dots for a quick finish.
- Tufts made it 3-0 with low angle power play goal at 6:21 in the second period.
- Bowdoin got on the board with a power play goal of its own at 11:07. Aidan Lyons cycled the puck from the top of the zone down to Isaac Abbott on the right. Abbott put a shot on net that Bryce Bollman deflected as the screen in front.
- Tufts iced the game with an empty-netter with just under five minutes to play in the third.
By the Numbers
- Tufts held a 35-24 edge in shots on goal, while the teams were nearly even in total shots.
- Both teams went 1-for-4 on the power play.
- Kozic made 31 saves for Bowdoin.
- Peyton Durand stopped 23 shots.
