Women's Hockey Skates to 4-2 Midweek Win Over USM

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team had four different scorers as the team secured a 4-2 win over the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday evening.
 
The Polar Bears climb to 4-3-0 on the season while dropping the Huskies to 6-5-1.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin scored its first goal of the game at 4:39 to go ahead 1-0. Sara Ito-Bagshaw picked the puck off the back boards and circled around to the right side of the net. Ito-Bagshaw sent a centering pass to Elena DiMagno who went bar down.
  • Two minutes later, Bella Burghart started the play on what would become her own goal. Deep in Bowdoin territory, Burghart sent a breakout pass up ice to Gia Massari who carried into the zone. At the last second, Massari dished left back to Burghart who put the puck away.
  • DiMagno set up the Polar Bears' third goal of the period with 3:34 remaining. DiMagno released the puck from just inside Bowdoin's own blue line on the left side. The puck found Anyi Sun at center ice who broke away through three defenders a pulled left to right. Sun put the puck through Haley McKim's pads.
  • Southern Maine came out in the third period and put a goal on the board 2:12 into the frame. Ellie Eigner plucked the puck off a Bowdoin player in neutral ice and turned around to skate into the Bowdoin zone. At the left dot, Eigner dished a pass center for a one-timer by Olivia Stewart.
  • The Huskies pulled within one, adding another goal at 8:02. Eigner stripped a defender in front of Bowdoin's bench and turned around for a three-on-one heading toward Sally Solotaroff-Webber. Eigner finished the play herself.
  • Jackie Miller gave the Polar Bears a cushion with an empty-net goal with 46 seconds remaining in the game.
 
By the Numbers
  • Both teams were scoreless on the power play. Bowdoin went 0-for-3 while the Huskies were 0-for-1.
  • Bowdoin won 38 of 62 total faceoffs.
  • The Polar Bears also held a 33-17 edge in shots on goal.
  • Solotaroff-Webber made 15 stops.
  • McKim stopped 29 shots.
