Late Cold Stretch Sinks Men's Basketball Against Chicago

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team couldn't mount a second half comeback, falling to Chicago on day one of the UAA/New England Challenge at Middlebury, 73-61. The Polar Bears fall to 3-5 while the Maroons improve to 5-2.
 
Game Highlights
  • Chicago jumped to a 14-5 lead in the early going, but Bowdoin was able to rally to close within two points, 22-20, following a Nolan Bessire put-back with seven minutes to go in the opening half.
  • Bowdoin tied the game shortly after, when a jumper by Will Logue made it 25-25 at the 5:25 mark.
  • The Maroons closed the half with an 18-7 run over the final 4:30, though, to take a 43-32 edge at the break.
  • Bowdoin rallied in the second half, chipping away at the Chicago lead and finally tying it at 54 when Jaden Hill hit a jumper with 7:56 to go.
  • Chicago held Bowdoin scoreless for a key four minute stretch, however, and outscored the Polar Bears 14-3 over the final 3:47 to pull away for the victory.

  • Will Logue (13) was perfect from the field in the game while Ben Chillson (13) also saw double figures for the Polar Bears.
  • Nolan Bessire had 11 points and five boards off the bench, as the Polar Bears got 32 from their bench in the game.
  • Rebounds and shooting percentages were close throughout the game, but Chicago scored 27 points off 17 Bowdoin turnovers that proved to be the difference in the contest.
