Women's Hockey Falls in Codfish Bowl Championship Game

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin women's ice hockey team fell 4-0 to Amherst in the Codfish Bowl Championship.
 
The non-conference matchup with Amherst (4-0-0) left the Polar Bears with a 2-2-0 record on the young season.
 
Game Highlights
  • Amherst scored a pair of first period goals to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Marie-Eve Marleau opened up the scoring at 6:56 and Mary Thompson added a power play goal ten minutes later.
  • With less than a minute remaining in the second period, Alyssa Xu made it 3-0.
  • Marleau capped the game with another power play goal at 8:59 in the third period, finishing off her own rebound.
 
By the Numbers
  • Amherst went 2-for-5 on the power play and managed to stay out of the box all game.
  • Sally Solotaroff-Weber made 26 stops in net for Bowdoin.
  • Natalie Stott made 20 saves for the shutout.
  • The teams were almost perfectly split on faceoff wins, with Bowdoin winning 27 and Amherst winning 26.
