Men's Hockey Skates Away with 3-0 Win Over Suffolk

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team cruised to a 3-0 win against Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears (2-1-0) shut out the visiting Rams (1-8-0) for the second consecutive time. Bowdoin pinned a 4-0 setback on Suffolk last year in the Bowdoin-Colby Classic.
 
Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin took a 1-0 lead at 12:02 in the first period. Gabe Shipper slipped the puck up to Isaac Abbott in the high slot. Abbott fired a slapshot through traffic to tally his first collegiate goal.
  • Aidan Lyons added a power play goal 6:37 into the second period. Lyons ripped a Jack Barbro feed from the top of the zone to make it 2-0.
  • The Polar Bears capitalized on a misplay by Suffolk's goalie later in the second to make it 3-0. Chris Jackson came behind the net to play a puck but got picked off by Jesse Lycan who fed Bryce Bollman in front of the net for an open goal.
 
By the Numbers
  • Kevin Clark earned his second win in net with his second career shutout against Suffolk. Clark made 12 saves.
  • Jackson stopped 29 shots on the opposite side.
  • Suffolk went 0-for-5 on the power play.
  • Bowdoin went 1-for-4 on the power play.
  • The Polar Bears dominated in the faceoff circle, winning 38-of-55 faceoffs.
