WORCESTER, Mass. - The Bowdoin men's and women's swimming & diving teams opened the 2023-24 season with their annual meet against MIT and WPI.

The men defeated WPI head-to-head 168-120, and fell 206.50-79.50 to the Engineers of MIT. The women posted similar results with a 197-90 win over WPI and 225-71 loss to MIT.

Women's Meet Highlights
- While the Polar Bears had multiple top-three finishes, Tatum Zupnik earned Bowdoin's one of Bowdoin's two first-place results in the 50 free. Zupnik swam away from the competition with a time of 24.31. Zupnik also finished third in the 100 fly (59.29).
- Sydney Lillis was Bowdoin's other top finisher, leading the way in the 200 fly (2:05.74). Harper Stevenson finished second in the race with a time of 2:09.86.
- Elizabeth Walsh also turned in a runner-up finish in the 1000 free (10:46.00) as did Ella Martin in the 100 backstroke (59.37).
- In the 200 free, Stevenson and Carolyn Casey finished two-three with times of 1:59.03 and 1:59.30 respectively.
- The quartet of Zupnik, Shannon McCall, Casey, and Martin finished second in the 400 free relay (3:37.60) to wrap up the meet.

Men's Meet Highlights
- The Polar Bears had a trio of top finishers in the season opener. Dylan Zhang started the year with a 100 breaststroke win and a time of 1:00.19.
- Raphael Grand'Pierre started his collegiate career with a win in the 50 free (21.52). Rhys Edwards added a victory in the 100 fly, winning by .01, with a time of 51.87.
- Steven Ward and Jack Tran both earned runner-up finishes to begin the year. Ward was second in the 200 free (1:45.85) and Tran did the same in the 100 backstroke (51.70).
- Joram Kim (1000 free, 10:10.09) and Jaran Depew (200 fly, 1:58.16) both finished third in their races
- Bowdoin concluded the meet with a second place result in the 400 free relay (3:08.66), off the efforts of Grand'Pierre, Edwards, Ward, and Tran.
