Women's Rugby Wins Fourth Straight NIRA Division III Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin College women's rugby team won its fourth straight NIRA Division III crown on Saturday, cruising to a 51-17 win over Adrian on Saturday on the campus of Harvard University.

The Polar Bears finish their season with an unbeaten record of 8-0, outscoring their opponents by a 455-61 margin this fall. Rebecca Vakarau was named the championship's Most Valuable Player.

Katie Stomma got the Polar Bears started, with an Eisenhart conversion, to take an early 7-0 edge. After Adrian cut the lead to 7-5, Bowdoin rolled off 37 straight points to put the match out of reach. Saniya Ridley, Stomma, Lulu Linkas, Vakarau, and Colleen Doucette all scored in the run that made it 44-5 midway through the second half. Justine Endo-Ferguson scored a second half try and Eisenhart tallied four conversions and a penalty kick.

The win gives Bowdoin their fourth NIRA title, joining 2019, '21, and '22.
