Football Crushes Colby To Capture First CBB Crown Since 2010

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Bowdoin College football team captured its first CBB Championship since 2010, dominating Colby in a 35-14 win at Seaverns Field on Saturday night.

The Polar Bears (4-4) claim their 20th CBB title, the most of any in the three-team rivalry, and reach the four-win plateau for the first time since 2011. Colby falls to 3-5 with the loss.

Game Highlights
  • Bowdoin dominated in every facet of the game, using timely offense and stifling defense to overwhelm the Mules.
  • After the teams traded early possessions, Bowdoin marched 55 yards in nine plays, scoring on a one-yard plunge by Robbie Long to take a 7-0 edge seven minutes into the game.
  • Bowdoin held that lead until midway through the second quarter when Andre Eden capped a six-play drive with a slashing ten-yard scoring run 5:47 before the break.
  • Colby drove into Polar Bear territory shortly before halftime, but a clutch interception by Aise Pream set up a back-breaking nine-play, 61-yard Bowdoin drive that saw Long find Colton Fahey for a touchdown pass with 1:53 left before the half, giving the Polar Bears a commanding 21-0 lead.
  • Colby made an attempt to climb back into the game following a penalty-aided scoring drive early in the third quarter, cutting the lead to 21-7 on a 19-yard pass from Matt McHugh.
  • But Bowdoin answered immediately, covering 73 yards in nine plays and scoring on a two-yard touchdown by Eden to make it 28-7.
  • The Polar Bears put the game on ice after forcing a Colby three-and-out, as Long capped a quick 46-yard drive with a 20-yard strike to Fahey to make it 35-7.
By The Numbers
  • Colton Fahey was outstanding, catching nine passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns. In the process, Fahey became Bowdoin's all-time leading receiver (2,068 yards) passing Pat Noone, and Bowdoin's all-time leader in career touchdown receptions (16).
  • Robbie Long was excellent for Bowdoin, going 18-30 for 263 yards passing while also rushing for a TD.
  • Andre Eden rushed for 68 yards and two scores while Brendan King grabbed five catches for 66 yards.
  • Bowdoin's defense held Colby to 158 yards of total offense and sacked the Mules seven times on the night.
  • Max Jacobs led Bowdoin with six tackles while Liam Wholey and Aidan Reidy had two sacks each. Aise Pream had two tackles and an interception.
  • The win was the most lopsided for Bowdoin against their Waterville rivals since a 24-3 win in 1995.
  • The win was the second of the season on the road for the Polar Bears, who last won two road games in a single season back in 2008.
Up Next
  • Bowdoin will close out its 2023 campaign next Saturday, November 18 at Whittier Field against Trinity College in a game that was rescheduled from October 28.
