Husson Tips Bowdoin in Men's Basketball Double Overtime Season Opener

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Husson University men's basketball team outlasted Bowdoin in double overtime in both team's season-openers Friday night in Morrell Gymnasium. The Polar Bears fall to 0-1 while the Eagles improve to 1-0.

Game Highlights
  • Both teams shook off some early rust before a frantic final minutes of the opening half. Husson grabbed a lead just before the halftime buzzer on a running layup by Jeremy Moronta to take a 37-35 edge into the locker room.
  •  The Eagles shot 50% in the first half while holding Bowdoin to 38%, but Bowdoin buried five three-pointers to be down just a bucket at the break.
  • Husson opened up as much as a nine point lead in the second half, but Bowdoin was able to chip away late, ending regulation on an 11-2 run, and forcing OT on a layup from Natrel Allen with 41 seconds to go.
  • The first OT was more of the same as Husson held a four point lead with under 1:30 to play, but Bowdoin closed the stanza on a 4-0 surge and a late block by Kevin Reeves forced a second OT.
  • The Eagles were finally able to put Bowdoin away in the second extra period, using an 8-0 run to put the game on ice.
