Field Hockey Suffers 1-0 Loss to Trinity

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin field hockey team suffered a 1-0 setback to visiting Trinity on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears are 7-3 on the season with a 2-3 mark in NESCAC play. The Bantams are 7-4 (3-4 NESCAC).
 
Game Highlights
  • During the opening 15 minutes of play, each team only managed one shot on net. Georgie Coetzer came up with a defensive save on a corner to keep the Bantams off the board.
  • Bowdoin could not convert on several penalty corner opportunities in the second quarter and watched Trinity score with 1:23 remaining in the half. Jackie Frank broke away down the right center with a pair of defenders recovering on either side. Frank continued to move the ball down the field and drew Julia Arsenault into a slide tackle. Frank chipped a shot over the sliding goalie for the game's lone goal.
  • Trinity opened the third with three straight corners, but could not find a shot.
  • The Polar Beas had a pair of corners in the final three minutes of regulation and managed two shots on net. Olivia McMichael came up with stops on both bids.

  • The Polar Bears played down for 11 total minutes of the game as four cards were dished out.
  • Bowdoin held a 12-9 edge in shots with an 8-5 shots on goal advantage.
  • Trinity took 11 corners to Bowdoin's six.
