MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Bowdoin College women's basketball team dominated the fourth quarter to rally for a 73-62 win at Wesleyan on Friday evening in their NESCAC season opener. The Polar Bears, ranked 25
th in the latest D3Hoops.com national poll, improve to 10-2 (1-0 NESCAC) while the Cardinals fall to 5-7 (0-1 NESCAC).
Game Highlights
- Bowdoin trailed 34-32 at halftime and 56-47 entering the fourth quarter as their offense looked to get on track.
- Meanwhile, the Cardinals shot 50% from the field in the first three quarters and opened up a nine point lead, 58-49, with nine minutes to go.
- The Polar Bears responded in a big way, outscoring the Cardinals 24-4 over the final nine minutes of the game to pull away.
- Eight straight points from Sela Kay and Annie Boasberg brought Bowdoin within one point, 58-57, with 6:51 to go and a three-pointer from Tori Beck gave Bowdoin the lead for good with 6:17 to go.
- In all, Bowdoin went 8-11 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to pull away for the double-digit victory.

- Bowdoin's big fourth quarter (26-6) brought their field goal shooting up to 40% for the game, while Wesleyan ended at 46%.
- The Polar Bears knocked down nine three-pointers, however, and scored 18 points off 20 Wesleyan turnovers.
- Sydney Jones continued her outstanding play, scoring 22 points with five steals in the win.
- Sela Kay scored 17 points while Carly Davey had seven points and five assists.
- Maria Belardi led the Bowdoin bench with seven points while Callie Godfrey led the Polar Bears with eight rebounds.
